Mcor is honoured at the World Technology Awards

The Time and Life Building, New York, The World Technology Awards, July 16th 2009: Mcor Technology today proudly flew the flag for Ireland at the World Technology Awards in the category of IT Hardware. Mcor were the only Irish company nominated across all categories.

Mcor was nominated for the development of the Mcor Matrix, the only 3D printer in the world to use A4/used paper to yield 3D objects. This machine has created ‘truly affordable and eco-friendly’ 3D printing and is set to pave the way toward a more consumer oriented offering that will unleash a wave of personal innovation and mass customisation. The World Technology Network is really about creating the future and changing the world and Mcor’s company vision is just that.

The World Technology Awards honour individuals and corporations from twenty (20) technology-related sectors. Nominees for the 2009 World Technology Awards were identified based on an intensive, global process over a period of many months in which current individual WTN members (primarily elected WTN Fellows from previous Awards cycles), who now number over 1000, spread out over 60 countries made their nominations based on who they think is doing the innovative work in their field of the greatest likely long-term significance. After the WTN gathers further information from nominees, WTN individual member, including Elon Musk, Chairman & CEO SpaceX, Niklas Zennstrom, CEO & Co-founder Skype and Gordon Moore, Co-founder Intel, then vote on their preferences within their category.

James P. Clark, founder and Chairman of the World Technology Network co-hosted the Gala evening along side Ali Velshi, CNN’s Chief Business Correspondent, and co-host of CNN’s weekly business show, Your Money. Brendan Rip, TIME Magazine and Bob McCooey, The Nasdaq Stock Market, representing the main sponsors of the event, opened the proceedings and set the tone for the awards to follow.

Mcor stood along side 20 other large global corporations for the IT Hardware category prize. Mcor was announced in the top five companies in the category along side, Belkin International, Sony and Xelerated AB – and instantly inducted into the WTN membership as Corporate Members. Amazon took the category prize.

Mcor CEO, Dr Conor MacCormack commented on the final placement for the company, “We are greatly honoured to be selected along side such prestigious companies but we do feel that it is testament to our company vision of bringing 3D printing to the masses and really putting an innovative tool in to the hands of those who will continue to bring long term significance through their work”.

Mcor continues to innovate, creating accessible 3D printing technology and will launch the Matrix 300 at TCT live 2009 later this year.
